APAZ ARCHITECT, AIA ï           ï   Springfield Depot Fountain Plaza [back]   The Springfield Depot Plaza is at the gateway to downtown Springfield. It’s located at Mill & South ‘A’ streets, adjacent to the chamber of commerce Depot Building. The plaza helps to orginize the important public space, to the west of the Depot Building. The plaza’s focal area is the fountain adjacent to the Fitch garden and volunteer’s courtyard. The South ‘A’ Street edge is defined by flower covered earth berming and decorative screeds. An entry archway is on Mill Street. At the of the public plaza is an amphitheater with surrounding lighted columns. The plaza links to the nearby Mill Race and Island Park.            ï ï
